St John’s Gospel reports that Mary remained beneath the Cross during Christ’s crucifixion along with the young Apostle John. Our Lord gave Mary to John and to all His disciples with the words: “This is your mother” (John 19:26). She is Mother of God and our spiritual mother. The month of May is dedicated to Mary. Special devotion to Our Lady is most fitting through the month. Fr Nicolas Maurice
