Intentional Discipleship

A disciple is one who has entered into friendship with Jesus. Christ invites us even today to come to know Him in a personal way. However, accepting His invitation takes place deliberately. For example, when Jesus calls Peter and Andrew by the lakeside St Mark’s Gospel reports that, “they left their nets and followed him”. They intentionally let their nets drop from their hands. This deliberate action expresses the decision to become an intentional disciple of Christ. Becoming a disciple does not happen by accident. By deliberately accepting Christ’s invitation we become intentional disciples. Fr Nicolas Maurice
