Parish Life 12 April 2020

Dear Parishioners,

The sun rises on an Easter day this year both strange and tinged with sadness. The pandemic has impacted all Australians and may well mean a muted celebration of the Feast of the Resurrection. Some may not even be able to spend the day with family members separated by travel restrictions or health concerns. Yet the sun rises unperturbed on this great day. Indeed the dawn has been a symbol of the Risen and Victorious Saviour. His Risen Body leaves behind the limits of space, illness and death. As we labour under restrictions, uncertainty, and fears, Christ’s victory promises the possibility of sharing one day in a risen life which leaves behind the afflictions we presently suffer. The victorious Lord assures us this Easter that death does not have the last word.

I extend my best wishes to all for this Easter. I keep you in my prayers and remember the many harmed by this pandemic including the sick, the dead, those without livelihoods, anxious families, those stricken by fear. Christ is risen! He is truly risen!

Fr Nicolas Maurice
